Keeping your home safe and warm

Energy advice

Heating your home can be expensive. You may be able to get energy advice and grants to help make sure your home is warm enough.
Contact us on:

Call the Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99 and speak to specially trained staff who can provide you with advice on home heating bills, including information on grants available to make homes more energy efficient, help arrange alternative payment methods to make bills easier to manage, provide access to a priority service team of specialist advisors and linking to other support agencies.  The helpline can take calls from friends, family, carers, social workers or health visitors calling on behalf of vulnerable people.

Are you getting the benefits available to you?

The council's welfare and financial assessment team and the local pension service provide a home visiting service for elderly and vulnerable people who need help with benefits.

We can help with filling in forms for benefits such as:

  • Attendance Allowance
  • Carer's Allowance
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Pension Credit
  • Housing and Council Tax Benefit
