The MOD guidance includes examples of the kind of local projects that will be supported.
Councillor Peter Sinclair-Knipe said: “This is a great opportunity for community groups to access funding for initiatives that strengthen relationships between themselves and the Armed Forces Community.
“In Herefordshire, we have identified seven key themes as a focus for partnership working - education; employment; health and well-being; housing; recognition, understanding and communication; community; and leisure and culture.
“We encourage anyone with a project they’d like to see realised to get involved and apply”.
The grant scheme considers applications for funding between £100 and £250,000.
An application can be submitted by any part of the community - such as volunteer groups, charities or public bodies such as schools or statutory services.
Application deadline is 5pm 31 January 2013.
Details of the application process can be found on the Herefordshire Council website or by following the link: http://beta.herefordshire.gov.uk/advice-and-benefits/community-support/armed-forces-community-covenant-grant-scheme or you can ring the council’s delegated grants team on 01432 260753.
