Besides the events dedicated to Herefordshire Year in the Orchard 2011 there are many other permanent ways you can appreciate and explore Herefordshire's Orchard Heritage.
Here are just a few examples:
Natural England - Existing permissive access is being funded through Countryside Stewardship and Environmental Stewardship Schemes. These are agri-environment schemes providing funding to farmers and other land managers in England who deliver effective environmental management on their land. There are currently 12 walks that take you through Herefordshire’s Orchards. Traditional Orchards are financially supported by the schemes to encourage sensitive environmental management of existing orchards and some new plantings. We hope you enjoy passing through these orchards that are an important and attractive part of the Herefordshire landscape. Leaflets for all 12 can be downloaded from the 'Resource' box below.
Know of any other interesting walks through Herefordshire's orchard heritage? Why not send the link to their webpage or their details to orchards@herefordshire.gov.uk and we will try and add them to this page so others can enjoy them to!
