What is Herefordshire Year in the Orchard?

Herefordshire Year in the Orchard logo Herefordshire Year in the Orchard (HYO) aims to help celebrate Herefordshire's orchard heritage - the landscape they create, the biodiversity they support, the cultural influence they develop, the food they produce and their economic impact on the county.

HYO will provide a cohesive focus for the existing orchard related events and activities already taking place annually such as the Big Apple, Cider Festival and Apple Days; allow other existing events to have an additional theme and attraction (e.g. Herefordshire Food Fair and the Walking Festival); and support the opportunity for new and innovative events and activities to take place and normally inaccessible orchards and estates to become accessible to the wider public. Examples could include 'Open Orchards', orchard training, promoting healthy eating and lifestyles, orchard archaeology, orchard arts and crafts, orchard biodiversity etc.

If you would like to help promote Herefordshire's Year in the Orchard why not download and distribute, or print and display, the promotional flyer from the resource box below - every little helps!
